The Highs and Lows of Coffee Craze

• Various Health Benefits for Various Health Problems
Researchers claim that coffee helps prevent Parkinson’s disease, colon cancer, liver cirrhosis, gallstones, diabetes and even heart disease! This all makes a cup of espresso made from gourmet coffee beans a little more attractive than usual.
But just when it looks like coffee would be the new every-day miracle medicine of the masses, until you read the reports of other researchers: hand tremors, increased blood pressure, and a susceptibility to psychiatric disorders to top off the list of coffee put-downs.
Too much of anything is bad. And coffee sure is no exception: these problems all appear with excessive intakes of coffee. However, the health benefits that come with coffee-drinking are too good to pass up, and a moderate amount of coffee (2 cups a day, at most) will help a person live a better, healthier life.
• Boosts energy at the expense of Adrenaline
Most people drink coffee in the morning to wake themselves up. They feel energized after taking a sip of their favorite brand, and they feel ready and revved up to get their game on.
However, this energy isn’t from the coffee or caffeine itself: it’s from your adrenal glands. Coffee puts your body in a “fight-or-flight” response, and the energy gained from this condition is fueled by your body’s release of adrenaline from the adrenal glands. You’ll be strong enough to fight a war for the next few hours, but the resulting ‘crash’ from an adrenaline high will leave your body exhausted.
Again, moderation is the key to maximizing energy while preventing the ‘crash’ from draining everything out of you when it hits. One cup will be good enough, and make sure that you eat a heavy breakfast and lunch to make up for the spent energy. Your body has to get its energy from somewhere, and you don’t want to be caught lacking energy because of an empty stomach.
• Concentration for Stress
The energy that comes with adrenaline helps boost concentration, as this is one of the chief functions of the “fight-or-flight” response. You’ll find yourself working harder, thinking sharper and understanding things more clearly. Such are the benefits that a cup of roasted gourmet coffee beans can bring you.
However, this concentration makes you more susceptible to the effects of stress, considering that the source of this concentration is a “fight-or-flight” response. So make sure you’re able to cope with stress properly, and avoid taking too many trips to the coffee machine. But if you do, be sure its organic coffee beans you are getting from that machine. Organic is far better than commercialized coffee. Organic coffee beans freshly poured in your cup will make you see coffee differently from the way you used to.
